Emily Jane Moir ( nee Mitchell ) lived in the village from 1940-1954 and had 3 sons Terence, Charles ( known as Charlie ) and John. All 3 boys attended the school in the village and what was then called Southlands Secondary school in New Romney. Terence left school at 14 in 1947 and went to work with the Link Family before joining the Navy aged 16 in 1949.
Her mother, Pricilla Emily Mitchell ( known as Emily )  also lived in the village during WW2. She was widowed and lived at 4 New Rents with her younger children. She died on May 8th 1945 at 4 New Rents and is buried in Newchurch.
Her sister, Hazel Phillpot  (nee Mitchell ) - also in the picture - died in 2017 and her ashes are buried with her mother (above) at Newchurch.

Many thanks to Heather Samson ( Granddaughter of Emily Jane Moir ) for this information.
