NEWCHURCH DEFIBRILLATOR EMERGENCY PROCEDURE

In  the case of a suspected heart attack / cardiac arrest:

DIAL 999 and ask for AMBULANCE.

If appropriate [advised by emergency services or on your own initiative if you are CPR trained]:
Apply CPR (immediately – don’t wait for First Responders or ambulance) and send someone to collect the AED

The unit is designed to be used by anyone – no training is required.

Newchurch Defibrillator (AED)

Our AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is located at the Village Hall to the right of the main doors under the canopy, instructions are next to the unit.

Please note:
This emergency procedure was supplied in conjuction with the Newchurch Village Defibrillator, other AED's may have different procedures.

ALWAYS check the instructions that are with the AED you are using.

  • Once you have provided the ambulance service with the postcode of the AED, they will give you a keycode to open the unit.

  • When the unit is opened, voice instruction will guide the user through the process.

  • It is automatic, and will check the heart rhythm to confirm that a shock is required.

Kelly Hopkins checked and serviced our AED on 4th December 2019, a full report was submitted to the parish council
